Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.

I was reading some time ago (I forgot just where) a list, published by the late Dr. Abraham Maslow, of the values for which men and women in our culture commonly live.  They were: 1. survival, 2. security, 3. prestige, 4. personal relationships, and 5. personal development.  And I thought, when I considered this list: “Well, those, precisely, are the values that are blown sky high when anyone becomes infected – not only with a religious zeal, but with any life-pupose at all.”  To which point we have another saying from the Gospels: “He who loses his life for my sake will find it” (Matt 10:39).
